ELECTION OF A NEW CHAIRMAN OF THE APPELLATE BODY
Communication from the Appellate Body
The following communication, dated 31 January 2000, to the Chairman of the Dispute Settlement Body from the Chairman of the Appellate Body, is circulated to Members.

I am writing to inform you that my term as Chairman of the Appellate Body expires on 6 February 2000. Pursuant to Rule 5.1 of the Working Procedures for Appellate Review, the Members of the Appellate Body have elected Mr. Florentino Feliciano to serve as Chairman from 7 February 2000 to 6 February 2001.
It has been an honour for me to serve as Chairman of the Appellate Body during this important and busy year. Let me take this opportunity to thank you for your collegiality and cooperation throughout my term as Chairman.
