RULES AND PROCEDURES GOVERNING THE SETTLEMENT OF DISPUTES

The following communication, dated 20 January 1997, from the Chairman of the Appellate Body addressed to the Chairman of the Dispute Settlement Body, is circulated to Members for information.

Having taken note of the decision taken by the Dispute Settlement Body at its meeting on 3 December 1996 (WT/DSB/M/27, item 1) to adopt the Rules of Conduct for the Understanding on Rules and Procedures Governing the Settlement of Disputes (the "Rules of Conduct"), (WT/DSB/RC/1, 11 December 1996), and pursuant to Rule 8(2) of the Working Procedures for Appellate Review (WT/AB/WP/1, 15 February 1996), the Appellate Body confirms that the Rules of Conduct have been directly incorporated into the Working Procedures for Appell
