Communication from Romania

The following communication, dated 19 May 2003, has been received from the Permanent Mission of Romania.

_______________

1.         (a)        Does your government have mandatory technical requirements for electromagnetic interference of Information Technology equipment?  If so, please identify.

The R&TTE and EMC Directives transposed as Government Decisions regulate EMC and EMI aspects in Romania in the same way as in European Union.  These Directives lay down general and essential safety and protection requirements with which products must comply. The list of harmonized standards published in the Official Journal was transposed through order submitted by the Minister of Communications and Information Technology.  The use of standards is voluntary and manufacturers are free to seek other technical solutions.

            (b)        Are these requirements harmonized with CISPR 22?  If not, please explain the current requirements.

Romanian standard SR EN 55022:2001 is harmonized with CISPR 22.

2.         (a)        Does your government have mandatory technical requirements for electromagnetic immunity of Information Technology equipment?  If so, please identify.

The Governmental Decision that transposes EMC and EMI directives also regulates immunity.
