REPORT OF THE EIGHTH SESSION OF THE WIPO STANDING COMMITTEE
ON THE LAW OF TRADEMARKS, INDUSTRIAL DESIGNS
AND GEOGRAPHICAL INDICATIONS (SCT)
At its meeting of June 2002, the Council for TRIPS requested, under item D of the agenda (issues related to the extension of the protection of geographical indications provided for in Article 23 to products other than wines and spirits), the WTO Secretariat to circulate to Members the report of the Eighth Session of the WIPO Standing Committee on the Law of Trademarks, Industrial Designs and Geographical Indications (SCT), held from 27 to 31 May 2002. This report, adopted by the SCT on 14 November 2002 (document SCT/8/7), is reproduced hereafter.
