Representatives
from Taiwan, the United States, Japan, and Australia have taken part in an
online forum to discuss the development of green energy. The meeting on
Wednesday took place under the auspices of the Global Cooperation &
Training Framework, a platform launched in 2015 by Taiwan and the United
States.
Taiwan’s foreign
ministry says it hopes partner countries can continue to share best practices
on green energy development through the framework.
In a pre-recorded
speech at the forum, Foreign Minister Joseph Wu said developing clean,
renewable energy sources is a key goal in efforts to fight climate change. He
says Taiwan is doing all it can to become a center for renewable energy in the
Indo-Pacific region.
Wu says the
government is already working with allies like St. Kitts and Nevis and the
Marshall Islands to develop plans for renewable energy development.
Around 120
officials from 50 countries took part in the talks, including representatives
from Thailand, South Korea, and Vietnam.
