The Senate of the
Czech Republic has hosted supply chain talks with Taiwan under the aegis of the
Global Cooperation and Training Framework (GCTF) for the first time.
Representatives from the United States and Japan also took part in the forum on
Friday.
The GCTF is a
platform jointly administered by the United States, Taiwan, and the
Japan-Taiwan Exchange Association that aims to bring Taiwan’s expertise to the
world.
Taiwan’s foreign
ministry says it is also the first time a European country has played host to
talks under the GCTF banner.
Addressing
participants at the opening ceremony, Czech Senate President Miloš Vystrčil
said the corporate world should not focus on short-term gain over long-term
development. He says the Czech government, the United States, Japan, and Taiwan
should build on their shared values to build more resilient and diversified
supply chains.
Foreign Minister
Joseph Wu also addressed participants of the forum in a pre-recorded speech. He
says from its beginnings in 2015, the GCTF has facilitated multilateral
cooperation in a number of areas important to the Indo-Pacific and the rest of
the world. Wu says he hopes to partner with more countries to face up to global
challenges.
